hier sind die neuesten Nachrichten aus Japan zum Thema Covid-19.
Landesweit wurden 50 neue Infektionen mit Covid-19 bestätigt. Fünf Personen sind verstorben. Die Gesamtzahl der Infektionsfälle stieg auf 16.851 (17.563*) und der Todesfälle auf 891 (904*). In Tokio gab es 14 neue Infektionen. (MHLW: Link; Präf. Tokio: Link)

Im April 2020 haben sich 9.680 Menschen in Japan um Sozialhilfe beworben. Das sind 31 Prozent mehr als im Vorjahr. (Yomiuri Shimbun, 31. Mai 2020)
Die japanische Regierung überprüft weiterhin, ob, und falls ja wie, die Einreisebeschränkungen für Menschen aus Thailand, Vietnam, Australien und Neuseeland gelockert werden sollen. Wann mit Lockerungen zu rechnen ist, ist derzeit noch unklar. Staatsminister Nishimura (Wirtschaftliche Wiederbelebung) hatte sich bereits vor einer Weile dafür ausgesprochen, die Einreisebeschränkungen für Vietnam, Australien und Neuseeland zu lockern, da man in diesen Ländern die Epidemie unter Kontrolle bekommen zu haben scheint und Japan im Rahmen der Transpazifischen Partnerschaft (TPP11) wichtige wirtschaftliche Interessen in diesen Ländern hat. Thailand wurde nun in diese Liste aufgenommen, da viele japanische Unternehmer dies fordern. Lockerungen für Personen aus den beiden asiatischen Ländern, die die engsten wirtschaftlichen Beziehungen mit Japan pflegen, China und Südkorea, werden wohl noch länger auf sich warten lassen. Die japanische Regierung fürchtet, den Zorn Washingtons auf sich zu ziehen, sollte man Einreisebeschränkungen für Chinesen „zu früh“ lockern; und in Korea gibt es derzeit noch lokale Ausbreitungsfälle. Eine Internetseite, die die Auslastung an ICU-Betten in ganz Japan wiedergibt. https://www.stopcovid19.jp/. Hierbei handelt es sich scheinbar um eine nicht-staatliche Initiative. Wie ersichtlich wird, sind die Krankenhäuser in den Präfekturen Tokio, Kanagawa, Gifu, Kyoto und Fukuoka derzeit deutlich überlastet. Allerdings sind zumindest die neuen ICU-Betten, die laut der Gouverneurin von Tokio seit Anfang der Krise in Tokio neu eingerichtet wurden, nicht mit einberechnet.
Auf dieser von der japanischen Regierung betriebenen Internetseite wird die Zahl der Menschen, dich sich in den wichtigsten Bahnhöfen Tokios und Japans aufhalten oder ein- und aussteigen gezählt. Link (auf Japanisch)

here are the latest news about the Covid-19 situation in Japan.
Nationwide, there were 50 new confirmed coronavirus infections yesterday. Five people have died. The total number of infections rose to 16,851 (17,563*) and deaths to 891 (904*). There were 14 new infections in Tokyo. In conclusion, the speed in which the number of new cases is rising, has significantly increased in recent days. (MHLW: Link; Tokyo Prefecture: Link)

In April 2020, 9,680 people in Japan have applied for social assistance. This is a 31 percent increase compare to the previous year. (Yomiuri Shimbun, May 31, 2020)
The Japanese government continues to review whether, and if so, how, the immigration restrictions for people from Thailand, Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand should be relaxed. It is currently still unclear when to expect an easing. Minister of State Nishimura (Economic Revitalization) had been advocating easing entry restrictions for Vietnam, Australia, and New Zealand a while ago, since the epidemic appears to have been brought under control in these countries. Japan has important economic interests in these fellow Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP11) member countries. Thailand has now been added to this list, due to the urging of Japanese entrepreneurs. Relaxation for people from the two Asian countries with the closest economic ties with Japan, China and South Korea, will probably take a while longer. The Japanese government fears that Washington's will react angrily if entry restrictions for Chinese are eased "too early"; and there are still local cases of spread in Korea.(Yomiuri Shimbun, May 31, 2020)

A website that shows the utilization of ICU beds across Japan. https://www.stopcovid19.jp/. This is apparently a non-governmental initiative. As can be seen, the hospitals in the prefectures of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Gifu, Kyoto and Fukuoka are currently significantly overloaded. However, at least the new ICU beds, which according to the governor of Tokyo have been set up in Tokyo since the beginning of the crisis, are not included.
This website, operated by the Japanese government, counts the number of people staying, boarding or disembarking in main train stations of Tokyo and Japan. As you can see, a decline of 60 to 80 percent is observed in almost all train stations. Link (in Japanese)
I would still like to draw your attention to the Corona bot. If you are a foreigner in Japan and show corona symptoms or are just looking for information, this chatbot could be helpful for you. It asks you about symptoms of illness and then recommends a hotline you can contact for advice or diagnosis. I just found the idea super-helpful and like to spread it, because in the end, it might actually save lives or at least nerves.
