hier sind die neuesten Nachrichten aus Japan zum Thema Covid-19.
Landesweit wurden gestern 44 Neuinfektionen mit dem Virus gemeldet. 19 Personen sind verstorben. Die Gesamtzahl der Infizierten beträgt nun 16.513 (17.225*) und der Verstorbenen 796 (809*). In Tokio gab es elf neue Fälle. (MHLW: Link; Präf. Tokio: Link)

Die japanische Regierung hat gestern den Notstand für die Kansai-Präfekturen Osaka, Kyoto und Hyogo aufgehoben. Damit verbleiben fünf Präfekturen, in denen der Notstand in Kraft bleibt. Dies sind Hokkaido und vier Präfekturen in der Hauptstadtregion (Tokio, Chiba, Saitama und Kanagawa). Am 25. will die Regierung erneut zusammentreten, um zu entscheiden, ob der Notstand in den fünf verbleibenden Präfekturen vorzeitig aufgehoben werden soll. (Yomiuri Shimbun, 22. Mai 2020)
Gouverneurin Koike hat den Plan der Präfektur Tokio für die Wiederöffnung der Wirtschaft vorgestellt. In dem dreistufigen Plan sollen, sobald es im Durchschnitt einer Woche jeden Tag weniger als 20 Neuinfizierte und eine sinkende Neuinfizierungsrate zu verzeichnen ist, zuerst Bibliotheken, Museen und Schulen wieder geöffnet werden － unter der Voraussetzung, dass diese Maßnahme zur Durchsetzung sozialer Distanz treffen. Im zweiten Schritt sollen Theater, Kinos, Nachhilfeschulen (juku) und shōgyō shisetsu 商業施設 (der Begriff beinhaltet Einkaufszenten, Spielzentren etc.) geöffnet werden. Im letzten Schritt dann schließlich Internetcafés, Vergnügungsparks, Pachinkohallen etc. Die Öffnungszeiten von Restaurants und Bars sollen schrittweise auf 22 Uhr und 24 Uhr verlängert werden. Eine Internetseite, die die Auslastung an ICU-Betten in ganz Japan wiedergibt. https://www.stopcovid19.jp/. Hierbei handelt es sich scheinbar um eine nicht-staatliche Initiative. Wie ersichtlich wird, sind die Krankenhäuser in den Präfekturen Tokio, Kanagawa, Gifu, Kyoto und Fukuoka derzeit deutlich überlastet. Allerdings sind zumindest die neuen ICU-Betten, die laut der Gouverneurin von Tokio seit Anfang der Krise in Tokio neu eingerichtet wurden, nicht mit einberechnet.
Auf dieser von der japanischen Regierung betriebenen Internetseite wird die Zahl der Menschen, dich sich in den wichtigsten Bahnhöfen Tokios und Japans aufhalten oder ein- und aussteigen gezählt. Link (auf Japanisch)

Good morning,
here are the latest news about the Covid-19 situation in Japan.
Nationwide, 44 new infections with the virus were reported yesterday. 19 people have died. The total number of infected people is now 16,513 (17,225 *) and the death toll 796 (809 *). There were eleven new cases in Tokyo. (MHLW: Link; Tokyo Pref.: Link)

The Japanese government lifted the state of emergency for the Kansai prefectures Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo yesterday. This leaves five prefectures in which the emergency remains in force. These are Hokkaido and four prefectures in the capital region (Tokyo, Chiba, Saitama and Kanagawa). The government plans to meet again on the 25th to decide whether the emergency in the five remaining prefectures shall be lifted prematurely. (Yomiuri Shimbun, May 22, 2020)
Governor Koike presented the Tokyo Prefecture's plan to reopen the economy. In the three-stage plan, as soon as there are fewer than 20 new people infected every day and a declining rate of new infections every day for a week, libraries, museums and schools are to be reopened in the first step - provided that measures are taken to enforce social distance. In the second step, theaters, cinemas, tutoring schools (juku) and shōgyō shisetsu 商業施設 (the term includes shopping centers, game centers etc.) shall be reopened. In the last step, internet cafes, amusement parks, pachinko halls, etc. The opening times of restaurants and bars shall be gradually extended to 10 p.m. and midnight. (Yomiuri Shimbun, May 22, 2020)

A useful web-page by Tokyo Prefecture that collects information related to Covid-19, including the number of tests performed: https://stopcovid19.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/en/.
A website that shows the utilization of ICU beds across Japan. https://www.stopcovid19.jp/. This is apparently a non-governmental initiative. As can be seen, the hospitals in the prefectures of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Gifu, Kyoto and Fukuoka are currently significantly overloaded. However, at least the new ICU beds, which according to the governor of Tokyo have been set up in Tokyo since the beginning of the crisis, are not included.
This website, operated by the Japanese government, counts the number of people staying, boarding or disembarking in main train stations of Tokyo and Japan. As you can see, a decline of 60 to 80 percent is observed in almost all train stations. Link (in Japanese)
I would still like to draw your attention to the Corona bot. If you are a foreigner in Japan and show corona symptoms or are just looking for information, this chatbot could be helpful for you. It asks you about symptoms of illness and then recommends a hotline you can contact for advice or diagnosis. It is available free of charge in Japanese, English, German, and Mandarin via Amazon Alexa and Line. More information here under this link. This is no paid advertising. I just found the idea super-helpful and like to spread it, because in the end, it might actually save lives or at least nerves.
